1. Choose a location for your fan.
Location is important when selecting the size and design of ceiling fan for your room.
- Indoors - An indoor fan, which is sometimes referred to as a dry-rated, fan makes an ideal fit for a living room or bedroom.
- Outdoors - When choosing a ceiling fan for an outdoor space, select a model that satisfies the requirements of Electrical Testing Laboratories (ETL) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
Many of Sofucors' fans can be used both indoors and outdoors, but be aware that some fans can only be used indoors.
2. Choose the right ceiling fan size
The diameter of the room affects how much air a ceiling fan circulates. Fans with bigger diameters are needed in larger rooms, and smaller spaces call for smaller fans.
- Small - Rooms that are no more than 8' x 10' should have ceiling fan sizes between 21" and 40" in diameter. Small rooms include dens and kitchen nooks.
- Medium - If your room is up to 12' x 14', stick with a fan that is 42" - 54" in diameter. Medium rooms include bedrooms and dining rooms.
- Large - A room that is up to 18' x 20' should feature ceiling fan sizes 52" - 60" in diameter. This includes family rooms and large bedrooms.
- Great - Great rooms are more than 18' x 20' and should include a fan more that is larger than 60" in diameter. Great rooms are characterized by open floorplans and large foyers.
